As I transit into my mid twenties, life speeds doubly faster like a bullet train. Only that it seems to be heading nowhere. Sometimes I wonder what happened to the life I have always envisaged.

I remember being a young lad full of dreams and hopes, imagining how I'd make a bang when I enter society. What happened to the big things I wanted to achieve, now all these big talks seem like trivial childish lil' things.

The things adults do. The things adults think.

It's all a muddy blur, I cannot comprehend.

The whole experience of growing up suddenly has become very surreal. It's somewhat a drugged psychedelic trance feel, nothing's real or so it seems. Should I even start questioning my mere existence now?

Need...need to inject meaning...before ittttzzz...

Just a recap of my life lately...

At work, the market's been too placid for clients to place any trade -- no one wants to take a position during such uncertain times with the Europe debt crisis plaguing the global economy. Tough times, man. Contrary to its golden age prior to the Lehman crisis in 2008, business in the private banking line has been quite a painful struggle. Guys on our floor are just hoping for some renewed optimism in the market soon, and I'm seriously itching to place some trades soon.

Outside work life, I will try to balance off the work week stress with some good leisure activities. Just last week I had an enjoyable time cycling at ECP. Think I will take up some courses or engage myself in volunteering soon.

It's amazing how life flickers past you so quickly. Even now I still can't get out of the fact that I'm already into full-fledged adulthood and work life.

Everything is going so fast, life's quite a blur.

Whimsy thought of the day:
I figured that as humanity evolve in an ever increasingly fast-paced urban jungle made up of cold hard concrete slabs, shallow materialistic wants and seemingly relentless advocation of attaining monetary-based/results-oriented nirvana...

...(now that was a mouthful), the more we need to learn how to love.

People are getting colder, or so I think. I do not know if it's developed out of fear or apathy. I know it's a bit careless to slap unbased remarks like these, but I observe people in my community becoming less caring for each other and that social nuclei are becoming more sparse and fragmented these days.

In contrast, I see more cynicism. More skeptical judgement passed. More cold eyes.

It's almost like some emotional leash that we put on ourselves, subconsciously unwilling to give ourselves the reprieve to show care and love for people around us. And I wonder sometimes, have we really lost the capacity to love? Or is that we chose the easy way out -- not to love at all?

Well I think it is everyone's social and individual obligation to love. In any form, really. Whether it is to care for the frail old lady who steps into the train cabin, or to be generous enough to greet and smile at your neighbours.

We need to love. Else it's as good as not to have lived at all.

Now there, who needs a free hug?

I'm trying to stay very collected in pointing out that recent conversations and fb-stalking on people's status updates all converge to one common point, which is that modern people my era have very warped minds.

"Yeah, like what's new?", you question.

Well, the issue I have here is that people around me all have grave subliminal issues that they are basically unaware of. So much so that these conceived ideas/"issues" (whatever you choose to call them) are well concealed at a subconscious level and growing --metaphorically speaking-- out of proportions.

I mean, It's not like I have no issues of my own too. The issues are always there, but it's not like I choose to hide them under the rug and feign ignorance of their existence. (because you know they will come back to haunt you now and then). I think it's always good to do some self-reflection and reconcile them once in awhile.

Because you know what. The consequences of failing to do otherwise would only lead to one outcome. These issues fuck your mind. It's what we commonly know it as "brain-fucked".

And it's twisted. Really badly.

Because it affects our subsequent actions thereafter. Our actions are after all a manifestation of our beliefs and ideas that compel us to act upon.

Another note to add is that we all need to work on our issues BUT not wrestle with them too vehemently because they will always be there somehow no matter the struggle.

I think the general solution is that we need to take an active approach to liberate our minds but act with a tinge of discretion at times. Interact with people of a different opinion and be more receptive to opposing voices, synthesize and go through the whole collective process of deconstructing our values and issues and making new meanings out of it. In short, simply experience life.

It's a long logic(or the lack of it) train but I'm not gonna go through it. I tried to list down some of the issues but decided to take them off because most of the issues bordered on sex and love. Do not want people to associate or judge me for the explicit mentioning of these issues although these issues didn't come from me (points at you, pesky judgmental readers).

I figured why growing up can be one of the most wretched things in life, because you start to grow OUT of things that are genuine, right and pure. Just like how I witnessed a mother stopping her child from fidgetting or interacting with the passengers nearby--- gosh, Mom, you just fucking killed the child's innate ability to socialise and express himself. After two delightful emails this morning from separate potential employers to inform me of my progression into the next round of job interview, I have suddenly awoken from my sloppy bedraggled lifestyle. Have decided that for my own good, I shall wake up my idea and lead a more driven positive life. Because I deserve better. Like how Loreal would put it no better than any marketing sales advert I have come across, "Because you're worth it".

I love pre-exams mugging days, the most intense compact time of the academic calendar when good friends huddle together (metaphorically speaking) on the same table over consecutive days mugging away for their impending doom. I know I have only Audit, Accounting and one elective to conquer but the stress level seems to match up to those of the past few semesters.

I highly suspect I have a lot of issues subconsciously suppressed inside of me.

The relief from opening yourself to another person, priceless. I need closure. Badly.

I am coming to the end of undergraduate life very soon. Two and a half years gone by, and the thought of stepping into work life gets a bit unnerving as I near graduation date. But I guess everyone has to go through the rites of passage and experience the related anxiety and apprehension that come along once you disassociate yourself from the student status.

Job application has been by far the biggest thing that's keeping me like a cat on hot bricks. Am at the crossroad of decisions, and you really wouldn't know which path is the right choice. Guess there really isn't a definitive "right" choice to begin with, it's just that I haven't got a clue what I really want to do at the end. This is the biggest life crisis I have come to face with, yet -- I swear.

A step at a time, I know the calling will come. I believe.

"Mr. Green" settling well in a new environment. I moved it over from home to my room a couple of weeks ago. It turns out to be that keeping a a plant takes a lot of patience, tender love and care-- no different from keeping a pet almost (umm, well discounting the poop!).

Mr Green had some whitish parasitic bugs nesting earlier, I'd to trim its leaves carefully...was very afraid I'd end up cutting all its leaves off! Hopefully it will bloom by end of the year with beautiful flowers!

The YOG Journey

This should come as an overdue post.

YOG has finally drawn its curtains as of Thursday. It's been a wondrous light-hearted experience for me as a volunteer at Bishan Sports Hall.

I don't think we will ever come close to something of scale as massive as YOG in our lifetime in Singapore. Truly it's been a spectacular show put up by fellow Singaporeans. Let's put away all the criticisms and cynical remarks, and embrace good faith.

Life has been passing by so quickly these days I haven't really gotten a good look at it.

It's pretty scary don't you think when time slips past your control so unintentionally, yet so unapologetically.

And I have decided if work life in future is gonna end up the way it is now, i'd rather die. Just gritting against my teeth and praying come July my Bangkok trip will be a therapeutic relief. Then I will have life back to me come whole of August.

AAC concluded neatly on 22 May 2010. It's been a wonderful time working with the AAC Committee and we pulled through quite a neat job! Now I'm moving most of my time to Risk Management. Y'know, I have people tellin' me CCA work is meaningless. As much as I'd like to reckon the same, I think it's the best platform one can find nowhere else to achieve bigger things in life. I just hope what I am about to achieve in RMS will achieve something bigger in time to come. Fingers crossed.

And I have been blogsurfing, facebook-ing/hopping/reading/ogling. you name it. I am a true victim of internet addiction. Then I came across a brilliantly written blog by an NTU Accountancy alumnus, whose entries breathed very sensible, matured ideas on business life after graduation, the attitudes and mindset for success etc. I picked up a few lessons just from reading them, and of course my blog entries would now fall pale in comparison to the intellectuality of the essence of his writings. I need intellect! I couldn't agree more with the commentary. Gymnastics is inside and outside the gym, true gymnasts live the spirit of the sport in every facet of our lives. It makes us stand out from the ordinary.

Glad that I once took this painful journey of becoming a gymnast. Once a gymnast, always a gymnast.

The TOP 3 PLACINGS in the Artistic Gymnastics Individual All-Round Championship ('A' Division, Boys');
1^st PLACING (TEAM) in the Trampoline event (Boys'); and
1^st PLACING (TEAM) in the Trampoline event (Girls').

Timothy Tay Kai Cheng (10S7N), clinched the Individual All- Round Championship('A' Division), with an excellent score of 63.600 points.

I was doing my reading in FAL today and overheard some final year seniors chitchat about their grad trip plans and how they are spending their last few weeks in NBS. I can't believe it will be my turn so soon. JUST ONE MORE YEAR TO GO!

Thumbs up to NTU's new Internal Shuttle Bus Tracking Initiative whereby students can now access real-time information on where the buses are and how long it will take for them to reach specific busstop(s). They also included the IRIS-alike interface for easy reading on mobile phones.

I don't know about you. But I think this is one of the more clever initiatives that NTU has adopted! =) now i can plan when to get out of hall to hop onto a bus ride without going through the hassle of waiting at the busstop...

I've moved into Hall 5 as of Thursday. It's a new environment but I am adapting well save for the extremely hot weather in the afternoon. The absence of aircon is making me fully appreciate the goodness of Hall 10 suddenly.

Updates: will be doing my PA at American Express coming May, should be quite looking forward to it =)

not to forget my long contemplation on driving down to JB with my English lads.

I vaguely remember hearing about an earthquake at Haiti a couple of days ago. Was it off the newspaper or me overhearing at a distance from the radio news broadcast? Either way, I didn't pay much attention to earthquake news. They are pretty common, I thought to myself then. Prolly one of those harmless quakes in the rurals or isolated areas.

200000 people dead. over 3 million people affected.

I think I clearly underestimated the magnitude of the incident.

Damn, feeling so disengaged from the outside world. Feeling quite miserable over the sudden reality slap, I didn't know my apathy got me that far. I am so sorry.

Settling comfortably into hall life now. I can't stop telling people my adoration for my room! It's nicely refurbished with new furniture, clean and neat! Everything is in its right spot, my speakers are the best newest additions too. Totally into the feeeeeeeeeeeeel.

First week of school. Things are going great, the only thing in my way is my bad cough. It's getting bad to worse, at this rate I should be coughing my lungs out. It's even worse than Tekong cough, goodness.

Feeling totally random now. But I get these funny pangs usually, so it's nth new.

Affiliations/labels are like suckers, they cling on so well, it's hard to get them off.
